Yankees sign Lind to Minor League contract
The Yankees continue to add more power as they signed first baseman Adam Lind to a Minor League contract Wednesday. Lind is scheduled to report to extended spring training at the Yankees' Player Development Complex in Tampa on Thursday.
Lind, 34, initially signed with the Yankees early in Spring Training. In five spring games, he hit .200 and had one RBI. He was released on March 14; this will be his second stint with the club.
Last season, Lind hit .303 (81-for-267) with 14 homers and 59 RBIs in 116 games with the Nationals. He made 30 starts at first base, 25 starts in left field and six starts as a designated hitter.
Lind could fill a role as a power bat off the bench with the Yankees. For his career, he has hit 200 home runs and has 723 RBIs. He is also a strong pinch-hitter, batting .324 in 156 plate appearances.
