Pipeline Preview: Torres set to make Triple-A debut

Here's a look at top prospects to watch in today's Minor League action:
Hitter to watch: (Yankees' No. 1), Scranton/Wilkes-Barre at Columbus (6:35 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Torres, MLB Pipeline's No. 2 overall prospect, is set to make his Triple-A debut on Tuesday, two days after the Yankees announced his promotion from Double-A Trenton. The 20-year-old shortstop batted .273/.367/.496 during his time in the Eastern League, with five home runs, 10 doubles and 18 RBIs in 32 games. He also scored 22 runs and walked (17) nearly as often as he struck out (21).

Pitcher to watch: David Paulino (Astros' No. 3), Fresno at Tacoma (9:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Paulino, ranked No. 47 on the Top 100 Prospects list, has been sharp in his two starts since returning from injury, allowing three earned runs in nine innings. The 6-foot-7 right-hander made his 2017 debut with Triple-A Fresno on May 11 after being sidelined with a bone bruise in his pitching elbow, and Paulino has struck out 10 and walked six while holding batters to a .129 average in his limited action this season. 

Duel of the day: Jon Harris (Blue Jays' No. 8) vs. Travis Lakins (Red Sox's No. 7), New Hampshire vs. Portland (5:35 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Harris has struggled to adjust at the Double-A level this season, as he's shown flashes of dominance, but largely struggled through the first two months of the season. He permitted a season-high seven earned runs in 4 2/3 innings in his latest start, giving the 23-year-old righty a 6.75 ERA in 44 innings (eight starts) this season.

Lakins began the season with seven strong starts for Class A Advanced Salem (5-0, 2.61 ERA) and earned a promotion to Double-A. The 22-year-old was roughed up in his debut at that level, giving up five earned runs in just 1 2/3 innings. The outing was easily the worst of the season for Lakins, who will look to get back on track against New Hampshire.
