MINNEAPOLIS -- Power has been in plentiful supply for both teams in this American League Division Series, with the Twins leading the Majors by belting 307 home runs in the regular season and the Yankees one swing behind them at 306.

Only one thing could dim the voltage of this matchup.

The Yankees’ preparations for Game 3 of the ALDS took place by the illumination of glowing laptop monitors and tablets, as a partial power outage in the visiting clubhouse at Target Field forced their hitters to hold their pregame meeting in a darkened room.

“It always does that here, so we're used to it,” quipped manager Aaron Boone, whose office was one of the rooms affected by the power failure.

As Boone met with members of the media, he sat in a room that was lit only by a television screen -- showing Game 4 of the Braves-Cardinals National League Division Series -- and a small refrigerator.

Others in the clubhouse, like general manager Brian Cashman and special assistant Carlos Beltrán, scurried for the few areas that had sufficient lighting. The outage did not appear to affect other areas of Target Field.

Boone said that, electricity or not, the Yankees would be able to accomplish what they needed to before Game 3. They departed the clubhouse to take on-field batting practice at their normal time.

“We know, when they go in for the hitters’ meeting, it’s something with the use of power,” Boone said. “The lights go off in certain areas. My office, for one. So it kind of goes in and out a little bit.”
