Mo among attendees for 1st Old-Timers' Day since '19

July 15th, 2022

NEW YORK -- The Yankees have announced the roster for the 74th Old-Timers’ Day, which is scheduled to be held with a new format on July 30 -- the 12th Old-Timers’ Day at the current Yankee Stadium and the first since 2019.

The team said that the traditional Old-Timers’ Day game will not be played this season. Yankees senior vice president of marketing Debbie Tymon recently told Newsday that several of the invited former players are recovering from surgical procedures.

"I have several alumni on the injured list — a little hip replacement, a little knee replacement," Tymon told the newspaper. "So when that all came into play, you say to yourself, ‘We still have to bring back Old-Timers’ Day. There’s a clamoring from fans to see the alumni.’ So we’re modifying it and going in a different direction just to move forward this year, and then hope to return to our standard event in 2023."

Fans are asked to be in their seats by 12:15 p.m. for Old-Timers’ introductions and video tributes. Old-Timers’ Day ceremonies will be aired exclusively on the YES Network, before the Yankees’ 2:05 p.m. ET game against the Royals.

The Old-Timers’ Day roster will feature five Monument Park inductees: Mariano Rivera, Ron Guidry, Tino Martinez, Willie Randolph and Bernie Williams.

Joining them from the current Yankees coaching staff will be manager Aaron Boone, along with assistant hitting coach Hensley Meulens, who is making his Old-Timers’ Day debut. Shane Spencer is also making his first Old-Timers’ Day appearance.

Additionally scheduled to attend are the widows of four legendary Yankees -- Diana Munson, widow of Thurman Munson; Joan Ford, widow of Whitey Ford; Kay Murcer, widow of Bobby Murcer; and Jill Martin, widow of Billy Martin.

The Yankees said the following is a list of scheduled attendees (subject to change):

Jesse Barfield, Ron Blomberg, Aaron Boone, Homer Bush, Rick Cerone, Chris Chambliss, David Cone, Bucky Dent, Brian Doyle, John Flaherty, Joan Ford (wife of Whitey Ford), Ron Guidry, Charlie Hayes, Jill Martin (wife of Billy Martin), Tino Martinez, Hensley Meulens, Gene Monahan, Diana Munson (wife of Thurman Munson), Kay Murcer (wife of Bobby Murcer), Jeff Nelson, Lou Piniella, Willie Randolph, Mariano Rivera, Mickey Rivers, Luis Sojo, Shane Spencer, Roy White and Bernie Williams.
