La Tortuga high fives kid after mad cap dash
A young fan got an up-close view of a highlight-reel play AND a high five, courtesy of Twins third baseman Willians Astudillo.
With one out and nobody on in the first inning of Thursday night's game at Target Field, Nationals right fielder Adam Eaton lifted a foul ball down the third-base line. Cap in hand, Astudillo ran down the ball and made the grab near the stands before spotting the youngster in the crowd and exchanging a high five before heading back to his position.
Astudillo went 1-for-4 with a walk in the Twins' 12-6 loss to the Nationals. It was the third walk in 172 plate appearances this season for the notoriously free-swinging utility man.
La Tortuga has started games this year at catcher, first base, second base, third base, left field, right field and designated hitter. He has been behind the plate the most, perhaps explaining why he took off his cap before chasing down Eaton's popup.
