Will Smith and Martin Lawrence host pregame activities, throw out first pitch at Marlins game

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, the stars of “Bad Boys: Ride or Die,” held a pregame takeover ahead of Wednesday night’s Citrus Series matchup between the Rays and Marlins at loanDepot park.

The fourth installment in the American buddy cop action comedy film franchise, which follows two detectives in the Miami Police Department, Mike Lowrey (Oscar winner Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Lawrence), will be released nationwide on Friday.

When Smith and Lawrence arrived, they spent time taking photos with a group of fans randomly selected for a meet-and-greet. The duo also posed with a wide range of Marlins players and staff, from to to .

Once the photoshoot was done, Smith and Lawrence held court during an interview shown on the video board. Smith discussed growing up a Phillies fan in West Philadelphia and apologized for traffic that might’ve been caused by the scenes filmed in Miami. He went on to say his favorite parts of the “305” (Miami’s area code) are from the causeways because of the scenic intersection of the Miami skyline and water.

and then presented Smith and Lawrence with Marlins home jerseys with “Lowrey” and “Burnett,” respectively, the last names of their detectives, on the back. In order to determine who would throw out the first pitch, Smith and Lawrence played a game of rock, paper, scissors, which is fitting considering the Marlins recently made that their celebration after every base hit.

Lawrence went with paper and Smith with rock, so Lawrence had the honor of throwing to Gordon, with Smith serving as his hype man.
