CHICAGO -- The White Sox added an outfielder Thursday afternoon by claiming Daniel Fields off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Fields, 24, spent almost the entire 2015 season with Triple-A Toledo as part of the Detroit organization, hitting .228 with 25 doubles, seven home runs, 41 RBIs, 66 walks, 17 stolen bases and a .335 on-base percentage over 122 games. He made one appearance with the Tigers on June 4, making his Major League debut, and picked up his first career hit, which was a double in a 7-5 loss to the A's. Fields, who bats left and throws right, was claimed off waivers by the Brewers on Sept. 10 and by the Dodgers on Dec. 7.

In 649 games over six seasons within the Tigers' system, Fields posted a .244 average with 42 homers, 260 RBIs, 299 runs scored and a .329 on-base percentage. The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder originally was selected by the Tigers in the sixth round of the 2009 Draft and is the son of former Major League outfielder and hitting coach Bruce Fields.
Following the move, the White Sox 40-man roster sits at 38.
