White Sox claim Hector Noesi off waivers from Texas
CHICAGO - The Chicago White Sox have claimed right-handed pitcher Hector Noesi off waivers from the Texas Rangers.
Noesi, 27, has combined to go 0-0 with a 14.21 ERA (10 ER/6.1 IP) and six strikeouts in five relief appearances this season between Seattle and Texas.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Noesi opened the season on the Mariners roster before being traded to the Rangers on April 12 in exchange for cash considerations. He threw 4.1 scoreless IP over his first two games with Texas but gave up seven runs in 1.0 IP on April 20 vs. the White Sox and was designated for assignment on April 22.
Noesi, a native of Esperanza, Dominican Republic, has appeared in 69 games (21 starts) over parts of four major-league seasons with the Yankees (2011), Seattle (2012-14) and the Rangers, going 4-16 with a 5.81 ERA (127 ER/196.2 IP) and 140 strikeouts.
He originally was signed by the Yankees as a non-drafted free agent on December 3, 2004 and was traded to Seattle with catcher Jesus Montero on January 23, 2012 in return for pitchers Jose Campos and Michael Pineda.
The White Sox 40-man roster increases to 40.
