DETROIT -- The White Sox activated outfielder Willy Garcia from the disabled list ahead of Friday's game against the Tigers at Comerica Park.
Garcia had been sidelined since July 31, when he collided with rookie second baseman Yoan Moncada, resulting in a concussion and a fractured jaw. Garcia had surgery to insert a plate in his jaw and was sent on a rehab assignment with the Class A Kannapolis Intimidators.
Garcia was batting .258 with two home runs and 11 RBIs at the time of his injury. He went 3-for-19 in five games with Kannapolis in the South Atlantic League playoffs. The Intimidators trail the Greenville Drive two games to one in the best-of-five championship series.
Garcia said he is feeling normal again and is grateful to be back with the White Sox, something he wasn't sure he would get to do this season.
"The first two games, I felt a little weird because of the time I wasn't playing," Garcia said, "but the third or fourth game, I was feeling good, in my routine."
Garcia initially didn't remember what happened on the play with Moncada, but said it was scary to watch the replay.
"It was painful to watch. In the moment I just passed out when the collision happened," Garcia said. "But I started getting better and I have to thank the doctors and everyone who helped me to get back."

Outfielder Rymer Liriano will be away from the team for three days to be with his wife for the birth of their son, though he was not officially placed on the paternity list.
