Vladito robs Pujols of a hit with diving stop
Playing his first road game -- at a ballpark his father called home -- Vladimir Guerrero Jr. displayed some adept defense in the second inning of Tuesday night's 4-3 loss at Angel Stadium.
Albert Pujols hit a ground ball to the hole between third base and shortstop, and Guerrero took a couple steps to his left before making a diving stop. He quickly got to his feet and made the throw over to first to retire Pujols. It was the first out of the inning, moving Andrelton Simmons over to second base after he led off with a single, and helped keep the game scoreless until the fourth inning.
Guerrero went hitless for the first time in his Major League career, but did work two walks, including one to lead off the ninth inning with the Blue Jays trailing by a run. He was lifted for a pinch-runner, and the Angels closed out the game with a double play and a strikeout.
