'Something left in the tank': Vlad Sr. crushes softball homer
Vladimir Guerrero may be retired from MLB for more than a decade, but that doesn’t mean he can’t still smash long home runs.
Guerrero, 47, posted a video on his Instagram account on Friday in which he was playing softball and absolutely crushed a drive that, as far as we know, never landed. According to Z101 Digital's Héctor Gómez, Guerrero was playing in his hometown of Nizao in the Dominican Republic.
Upon sending the ball into the night sky, Guerrero stood with his hands behind his back, almost as if he was paying his respects, before beginning his home run trot. And amid all of this greatness, he was even wearing an Expos jersey with his name and the number 27 on the back, just like the old days.
It's always a great day when we have a chance to reminisce about Guerrero's prodigious power at the plate -- during his 16-year Major League career, the Hall of Famer launched 449 home runs, many of them of the tape measure variety.
As he commented with his Instagram post Friday, Vlad’s “still got something left in the tank.”
