Scully lends trademark tone to Twitter

Iconic Dodgers voice as smooth on @Dodgers as he is behind mic

There aren't many things Vin Scully hasn't seen or done when it comes to the game of baseball.

However, the legendary Dodgers broadcaster definitely had a baseball first Wednesday night, taking over the official Dodgers Twitter account during the team's game against the Yankees.

In the three or so hours he took over the Dodgers account, Scully tweeted about everything from foul balls flying into the broadcast booth to how different the newest Yankee Stadium looks. At one point, he was even trending in the United States.

"The scariest in broadcasting for foul balls, old Briggs Stadium," he tweeted, referring to the former Tigers home in Detroit. "The booth was so close to home you could hear the hitter grunt."

"I'm looking at Yankee Stadium and it looks so different from the old one."

Scully started out the evening as he does every Dodgers broadcast:

"Hi everybody and a pleasant Wednesday evening to you, wherever you may be."

He even let fans in on when he knew he wanted to be a sports announcer:

"When I was 8 years old, I knew. I wrote a composition for the nuns and said I want to be a sports announcer."

Scully also couldn't stop talking about Dodgers right fielder Yasiel Puig, who finished the game going 2-for-4 with a home run, stolen base and three runs scored.

"Holy Mackerel, it's Puig! He is unbelievable."

"Yasiel Puig has got a bunt single, a stolen base, and a home run. He is unbelievable. His talent is absolutely breathtaking."

He even mentioned playing baseball against former President George H.W. Bush in college.

"I once played against George H. W. Bush. He played 1B for Yale, and I played CF for Fordham. We both went 0-for-3."

He then finished out the night with the tweet:

"Thanks so much for joining me on Twitter and good night."
