USA's 18U World Cup roster loaded with Draft prospects
Team will begin pool play in Gijang, South Korea on August 30
USA Baseball announced the 2019 18U National Team on Saturday, following the conclusion of the 2019 18U National Team Trials.
The final 20-man roster will compete in the 2019 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-18 Baseball World Cup in Gijang, South Korea, August 30-September 8.
This year’s Team USA 18u team features some of the country’s best high school prospects and could have several members of next year’s 2020 MLB Draft class.
Eighteen members of this year’s roster including Ed Howard, Nolan McLean, AJ Vukovich, Tyler Soderstorm and many more participated in the inaugural PDP League.
The Prospect Development Pipeline (PDP) League is a collaborative effort between MLB and USA Baseball to establish an official identification and player-development pathway for amateur baseball players in the United States.
Eleven players on this year’s team are new to USA Baseball national team programming in 2019 and were identified by participating in the PDP League.
The 2019 18U National Team will begin training in Fullerton, California, from August 18-21 before traveling to Taichung, Taiwan, to continue training with three friendlies against Chinese Taipei from August 24-27.
