Twins Select Eight Players On Day Two Of MLB Draft

Club selects three pitchers, one infielder, two outfielders and two catchers on second day of draft

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have completed day two of the 2024 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, selecting eight additional players in rounds 3-10. In all, the Twins have selected 12 total players, including: three right-handed pitchers, one left-handed pitcher, four infielders, two outfielders and two catchers. The Twins have selected one player out of high school and 10 out of college so far.

Culpepper, 21, hit .328 (80-for-244) with 15 doubles, six triples, 11 home runs, 59 RBI, 35 walks, 17 stolen bases, a .419 on-base percentage and a .993 OPS in 61 games for Kansas State University in 2024, earning a spot on the All-Big 12 Second Team for his efforts. Over three seasons at Kansas State, the Memphis, TN native hit .314 (176-for-561) with 32 doubles, six triples, 26 home runs, 122 RBI, 27 stolen bases, 63 walks, 109 runs scored, a .402 on-base percentage and a .934 OPS in 152 games.

DeBarge, 21, hit .356 (91-for-256) with 19 doubles, three triples, 21 home runs, 72 RBI, a .699 slugging percentage and a 1.117 OPS in 62 games for the Ragin’ Cajuns in the 2024 season and was named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year. The Kinder, LA native, who turns 21 today, also earned First-Team All-America honors from D1Baseball, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Baseball America for his efforts.

2 (60) Billy Amick 3B R/R 6’1” 220 11/4/02 Mooresville, NC Tennessee Powell

Amick, 21, played in 65 games for the Men’s College World Series-winning Volunteers this year, his lone season at Tennessee. He hit .306 (78-for-255) with 14 doubles, one triple, 23 home runs, 65 RBI, 67 runs scored, 29 walks, a .387 on-base percentage and a 1.026 OPS, and he was named a 2024 Perfect Game Midseason All-American – First Team. Prior to transferring to Tennessee, the Mooresville, NC native spent the 2022-23 seasons at Clemson University, hitting .382 (71-for-186) with 13 home runs and 63 RBI in 55 games for the Tigers.

Hill, 19, went 10-0 with a 0.99 ERA, 26 walks and 155 strikeouts in 77.0 innings pitched his senior season at Grapevine, leading the Dallas-Fort Worth area school to the Texas 5-A state championship.

Over three seasons at Loyola Marymount, the 6-foot-1, 215-pound catcher hit .348 (109-for-313) with 20 doubles, five triples, 12 home runs, 54 RBI, 78 runs scored, a .426 on-base percentage and a .985 OPS in 80 games. The Northridge, CA native is the first player of Senegalese descent ever selected in the MLB Draft and attended the same high school (Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, CA) as major leaguers Giancarlo Stanton and Hunter Greene.

Ferrer, 21, hit .317 (73-for-230) with eight doubles, three triples, 22 home runs, 67 RBI, three stolen bases, 25 walks, a .418 on-base percentage and a 1.083 OPS in 63 games for Florida State University in the most recent season, earning All-ACC Third Team honors. The Bayamón, Puerto Rico native played three seasons for the Seminoles, hitting .321 (216-for-674) with 49 doubles, six triples, 38 home runs, 149 RBI, 11 stolen bases, 58 walks, 133 runs scored, a .409 on-base percentage and a .989 OPS in 176 games. His father, Jimmy Ferrer, played professional basketball and his grandfather played for the Cuban national basketball team.

5 (159) Caden Kendle OF R/R 5'11" 200 3/13/02 Huntington Beach, CA UC Irvine Leavitt

Kendle, 22, hit .387 (82-for-212) with 19 doubles, three triples, six home runs, 61 RBI, a .479 on-base percentage and a 1.069 OPS in 51 games at University of California, Irvine in 2024. The Huntington Beach, CA native was named to the All-Big West First Team in three-straight years from 2022-24, as well as the Big West co-Field Player of the Year in 2023 and to the Corvallis All-Regional Team in 2024. The 5-11, 200-pound outfielder played 181 games over four seasons for the Anteaters, hitting .342 (202-for-591) with 41 doubles, seven triples, 20 home runs, 135 RBI, 159 runs scored, a .447 on-base percentage and a .983 OPS. Kendle was selected by St. Louis in the 10th round pick of the 2023 MLB Draft but elected to return for his senior season at UC Irvine.

The 6-foot-1, 235-pounder was a Dick Howser Trophy semifinalist in 2023 and played in 144 games over three seasons for the Chanticleers, hitting .326 (168-for-515) with 22 doubles, four triples, 32 home runs, 153 RBI, 12 stolen bases, 55 walks, 114 runs scored, a .408 on-base percentage and a .979 OPS.

Jones, 21, went 3-4 with a 5.24 ERA (68.2 IP, 40 ER), 20 walks and 56 strikeouts in 17 games (15 starts) for the University of South Carolina in 2024. A native of Peachtree City, GA, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound right-hander appeared in 45 games (27 starts) across three seasons at South Carolina, going 8-10 with a 4.76 ERA (136.0 IP, 72 ER), 40 walks and 129 strikeouts.

Hall, 21, went 10-3 with a 4.12 ERA (107.0 IP, 49 ER), 21 walks and 110 strikeouts in 16 starts for Oral Roberts University in 2024 en route to being named Summit League Pitcher of the Year and All-League First Team. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound right-hander appeared in 50 games (35 starts) for the Golden Eagles across three seasons, going 20-6 with a 4.15 ERA (232.0 IP, 107 ER), 47 walks and 239 strikeouts.

9 (278) Jason Doktorczyk RHP R/R 6’6" 230 4/3/03 Seal Beach, CA Nevada Tashjian

Doktorczyk, 21, went 6-4 with a 3.95 ERA (84.1 IP, 37 ER), 22 walks and 91 strikeouts in 13 starts for the University of Nevada in 2024. The 6-foot-6, 230-pound right-hander was named to the All-Mountain West First Team and was named Mountain West Pitcher of the Week twice in 2024. The Seal Beach, CA native played a season at Sonoma State University in 2022 prior to transferring. Overall, he made 38 college appearances (34 starts), going 14-10 with a 4.93 ERA (208.0 IP, 114 ER).

10 (308) Peyton Carr 3B R/R 6'2" 205 3/26/02 Fort Myers, FL High Point Dawson

Carr, 22, hit .418 (43-for-103) with seven doubles, 13 home runs, 30 RBI, 18 walks, 23 runs scored, a .516 on-base percentage and a 1.380 OPS for High Point University in 2024, despite being limited to 27 games due to injury; started all 27 games at designated hitter. A native of Fort Myers, FL, Carr was named Big South Player of the Week once and was also a First Team All-Conference selection. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound infielder hit .339 (161-for-475) with 29 doubles, 25 home runs, 96 RBI, 69 walks 91 runs scored, a .433 on-base percentage and a .991 OPS in 127 games across four seasons for the Panthers.
