FORT MYERS, Fla. -- David Ortiz and Hanley Ramirez launched solo home runs off right-hander Kyle Gibson, but the Twins recorded a five-run seventh for a 7-4 win over the Red Sox on Thursday at Hammond Stadium in the Grapefruit League finale for both teams.
The Twins tied the game in the seventh on RBI singles from Danny Santana, who had three hits, and Darin Mastroianni off left-hander Tommy Layne, and after Mastroianni scored on a throwing error, Reynaldo Rodriguez hit a two-run triple.

Red Sox right-hander Clay Buchholz made his final spring tuneup before his scheduled appearance against the Indians on Wednesday. He allowed one run on two hits with two strikeouts and two walks in four innings, his lone blemish a home run by Eddie Rosario in the fourth.
"It's a good way to wind down," Buchholz said. "I took a step forward every time through this spring. The two-seamer was a lot better today. That's what I worked on between this start and my last start."

Gibson loaded the bases in the third, but he allowed only one run when Xander Bogaerts grounded into a double play. Ramirez, however, began the fourth inning by crushing his second homer of the spring before Jackie Bradley Jr. singled to right field, scoring Travis Shaw.

Leading off the fifth inning, Boston' Josh Rutledge sent a fly ball toward the wall in straightaway center field, and MLB No. 2 prospect Byron Buxton made a sensational leaping catch while falling on the warning track.

Ortiz hit his first home run of the spring two batters later, his final at-bat at his first career spring home.

Gibson allowed four runs on seven hits, striking out three and walking one in five innings.
"They're obviously pretty aggressive, so I was just trying to locate the heater as good as I could," Gibson said. "Didn't really have as good of command as I had in the past. But offspeed was pretty good, curveball was just all right. But for the most part, pretty happy."
Before the game, Shaw was named the Red Sox's starting third baseman over Pablo Sandoval. Shaw went 1-for-2 before Sandoval entered in the fourth and finished 0-for-2.

Up next for the Red Sox: Right-handed knuckleballer Steven Wright will start against Toronto at 7:05 p.m. ET on Friday at Olympic Stadium, free on MLB.TV. It will be the first of two exhibition games between the American League East foes in Montreal before the Red Sox open the season Monday in Cleveland. Wright is 1-2 with a 2.66 ERA in five Grapefruit League appearances (four starts).
