Twins release veteran reliever Jepsen
July 11th, 2016
The Twins released right-handed reliever Kevin Jepsen on Monday, eight days after designating the veteran for assignment.
The 31-year-old is now free to sign with any team, though Minnesota will be responsible for what remains of his $5.3 million salary.
Jepsen posted a 1.61 ERA in 29 appearances for the Twins last season after being acquired in a Trade Deadline deal from the Rays, but he struggled mightily this season. He had a 6.16 ERA in 33 appearances for Minnesota before it designated him for assignment on July 3.
Jepsen has a 3.83 ERA in 423 career relief appearances over nine seasons with the Angels, Rays and Twins.
