Absolute ROBBERY! Jankowski robs potential walk-off 3-run HR to help sweep DH

CHICAGO -- It didn’t take long for the baseball to find left fielder after he entered Wednesday night’s game at Guaranteed Rate Field as a defensive substitute in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Jankowski was ready, and he made arguably the biggest play of the night in the Rangers’ 4-3 win over the White Sox. He robbed Andrew Vaughn of a home run for the second out of the ninth -- leaping at the wall and reaching over it to bring back what would have been a walk-off three-run homer.

According to Statcast, Vaughn’s drive went a projected 352 feet, and would have been a homer in seven ballparks. Jankowski ensured it was not eight.

The White Sox were rallying when Jankowski made the catch. They had two runners on base after singles by Nicky Lopez and Andrew Benintendi, whose base hit followed a Luis Robert Jr. lineout.
