CLEVELAND -- Tom Hamilton has been in the broadcast booth for the Indians for more than a quarter century, providing a consistent voice for Tribe fans and boasting a wealth of experience when it comes to baseball in Cleveland.
With Tuesday's season opener for the Indians arriving fast, MLB.com met with Hamilton and his radio partner, Jim Rosenhaus, to discuss the season ahead. The way Hamilton sees it, Cleveland made the right decision to keep its talented rotation intact this winter, rather than looking to make a blockbuster trade.
"They could've made that blockbuster trade," Hamilton said. "But, then you're robbing Peter to pay Paul. I don't think anybody wants to watch Carlos Carrasco or Danny Salazar win 15 to 20 games and then all of a sudden it's not with the Indians, and the Indians are looking for starting pitching."
During the question-and-answer session, Hamilton and Rosenhaus touch on the rotation, Michael Brantley's comeback, shortstop Francisco Lindor's emergence last season and the players who impressed in Spring Training this year.
Come Monday, they will be back in the booth at Progressive Field, watching and describing how things begin to unfold for the Indians this year.
