Tim Anderson is swapping out the "South Side" uniform to go worldwide. On Friday afternoon, Anderson announced he was "all in" for Team USA at the upcoming World Baseball Classic next March. One of the most gifted hitters in the game -- he's topped a .300 batting average in each of the last four seasons -- Anderson also has a penchant for coming through in big moments, with the requisite celebration skills for such occasions, too.

Though Anderson is currently on the injured list following surgery to repair a torn ligament in his finger and may miss the rest of the regular season, he is expected to be healthy when the tournament begins in March. Assuming no complications, Anderson will be the latest piece of an explosive Team USA puzzle. The White Sox shortstop will join Mookie Betts, Mike Trout, Pete Alonso, Paul Goldschmidt, Trevor Story, Bryce Harper, Nolan Arenado, J.T. Realmuto and Cedric Mullins among those who have already announced their intention to play for the USA.

Though the tournament pools have largely been set, there are still four open spots. The top two teams from each of next month's qualifying tournaments in Regensburg, Germany, and Panama City, Panama, will move on and get to play for World Baseball Classic Gold next year.
