ARLINGTON -- The Rangers signed former All-Star reliever Steve Delabar to a Minor League contract with an invitation to Spring Training on Thursday. Outfielder Destin Hood also agreed to a Minor League contract with an invite to big league camp.
Delabar, a 34-year-old right-hander, has pitched in six seasons with the Mariners, Blue Jays and Reds. His best year was with Toronto in 2013, when he was 5-5 with a 3.22 ERA in 55 games and was selected for the American League All-Star team.
He spent four years with the Blue Jays before being released at the end of 2016 Spring Training. He pitched in seven games with the Reds in 2016, 17 for Triple-A Louisville and two for the Hiroshima Carp.

Delabar was with the Indians' organization in 2017 but did not pitch. He was released on July 5 after finishing an 80-game suspension for testing positive for ostarine in violation of Minor League Baseball's drug policy.
Delabar was originally selected by the Padres in the 29th round of the 2003 MLB Draft, then released in '08. He ended up pitching in independent leagues in 2008-09 before suffering a severe elbow injury.
He was working as a substitute teacher and assistant high school coach in his hometown of Elizabethtown, Ky., in 2010 when his arm strength began to return. The Mariners signed him off a tryout to a Minor League contract in 2011, and he pitched for them in 2011-12 before being traded to the Blue Jays.
Hood, 27, played in 13 games for the Marlins in 2016 with six hits in 25-bats. He has spent most of the past four years in Triple-A for the Nationals and Marlins, with a line of .268/.326/.452. He is a right-handed hitter who has shown some speed and power in his Minor League career.
