GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Reds prospects Taylor Trammell and Tyler Stephenson didn’t start out as rivals, nor did they endure a series of slapstick misadventures before forging a bond. And they have jobs already and seek to improve to better ones.

Yet, Trammell and Stephenson could forever be viewed as “Step Brothers.”

Last year when both were with Class A Advanced Daytona, the pair posed for a photo that emulated Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly in the promotional poster for their comedic film, “Step Brothers.”

“They told us in Daytona last year, ‘Hey, we want you guys to reenact the Step Brothers thing. You guys are from Georgia together and you guys hang out a lot,’” Trammell said.

Two photogenic players borrowing from a pop-culture mega-hit to bring the funny? Naturally, it went viral on social media.

“It just took off,” Trammell said. “Now we’re seeing a lot of other guys doing it and everything. We’re like, ‘We started this.’”

Trammell, 21, is taking part in his first big league camp at Spring Training as a non-roster player, while Stephenson, 22, is back for his second. On Reds photo day Tuesday, there was only one thing they had to do: Take the picture together again.

“We were doing our photo stuff here [Tuesday], and we were like, ‘We’ve got to redo it.’ Sure enough, we did. People seem to love it,” Stephenson said.

Once again, Trammell took Ferrell’s spot as Brennan Huff and Stephenson was Reilly’s Dale Doback. But two aimless middle-age losers they are not.

According to MLB Pipeline, Trammell is the Reds’ No. 2 prospect (16th overall), while Stephenson is ranked No. 6. Both players live in Kennesaw, Ga., and were signed a year apart by the same scout -- John Poloni. Stephenson was Cincinnati’s first-round selection in the 2015 Draft and Trammell was a Compensation Round A pick in '16.

Trammell and Stephenson were teammates in '17 at Class A Dayton before moving up to Daytona last season. Perhaps they will be paired again at Double-A Chattanooga this season.

And they will be ready to strike a pose if and when they are.

“We’re trying to think of something for whenever we break camp,” Stephenson said. “I don’t know what we’re going to do yet. We’re trying to think of something.”

Trammell noted that something from “The Hangover” is a contender and they would recruit fellow prospects Tony Santillan and T.J. Friedl.

“We’re trying to get T.J. as the baby. I don’t know who I want to be,” Trammell said.
