The Tokyo Tower in Japan was lit up in bright Angels colors Friday to celebrate Shohei Ohtani's 2021 American League MVP Award.

At 5:17 p.m. in Tokyo -- that's 17:17, in honor of Ohtani's jersey No. 17 -- the tower shone bright red and displayed a congratulatory message for Ohtani on its main deck.

The two-way superstar was named the unanimous league MVP on Thursday, making him the second Japanese player to win an MVP Award in the Major Leagues after Ichiro Suzuki in 2001.

The tower light-up, a collaboration of the Tokyo Tower and MLB Japan, was streamed on MLB's Japanese TikTok and Twitter accounts and can be viewed at @MLBJapan.
