Players of the Week: Ohtani, Harris honored
Marlins' Sánchez makes Play of the Week
Angels two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani and Braves outfielder Michael Harris II have been named the Players of the Week presented by Chevrolet, while Marlins outfielder Jesús Sánchez has earned Play of the Week honors for his game-saving home run robbery against the Mariners on June 14.
Ohtani hit .435 (10-for-23) with six homers, 12 RBIs, 10 walks and a 1.893 OPS over seven games at the plate last week. He also picked up the win on the mound in his start on June 15, holding the first-place Rangers to two runs over six innings.
This is the fifth Player of the Week Award for Ohtani, who leads MLB in homers (24), RBIs (58) and total bases (175) while slashing .300/.384/.632.
Harris, the 2022 NL Rookie of the Year, entered last week with a .562 OPS on the season but went 15-for-27 (.556) with three homers, nine RBIs, two steals and a 1.499 OPS over seven games.
Harris had a three-hit game on June 12, a four-hit game on June 14 and a five-hit game on June 18, going deep in all three games. This is the first Player of the Week Award for the 22-year-old.
As for Sánchez, he saved the day for Miami on June 14, robbing Seattle’s Eugenio Suárez of a potential game-tying grand slam with a leaping catch at the right-center-field wall in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Marlins went on to win 4-1 and are 13-4 this month.
