Choo extends on-base streak to 43 games
Reaches four times in five plate appearances against Astros
ARLINGTON -- Rangers designated hitter Shin-Soo Choo extended his Major League-high on-base streak to 43 games in the third inning of Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Astros by drawing a walk against left-handed starter Dallas Keuchel.
Choo's streak is now tied for the longest in the American League since 2015, when Minnesota's Joe Mauer had a 43-game on-base streak. The only streak longer in the Majors over the past three seasons was 46 games by Atlanta's Freddie Freeman in 2016.
Choo would reach three more times on the night, tapping an RBI single into left field in the fifth, drawing a walk in the eighth and collecting an infield single in the ninth.
Choo received the Rangers' Player of the Month award for June in a pregame ceremony. He hit .347, drew 20 walks and had a .466 on-base percentage in the month.
