OAKLAND – may not be having his most ideal year at the plate when it comes to consistency. But with the game on the line, there are few players the A’s would rather have up in a big moment, and he showed again why on Monday.

Having already bashed a three-run homer earlier in the game, Langeliers led off the bottom of the ninth in a tie game. Facing Mariners reliever Austin Voth, Langeliers connected on a sweeper for a towering 418-foot blast that just cleared the foul pole in left to clinch a 5-4 walk-off victory for the A’s.

On a day All-Star closer Mason Miller was unavailable after throwing 34 pitches the night before, the bullpen quartet of T.J. McFarland, Grant Holman, Michel Otañez and Tyler Ferguson combined for 3 2/3 hitless innings in relief of starter Osvaldo Bido to keep the game tied before Langeliers’ walk-off blast.
