Langeliers posts 4th multi-HR game of year
Shea Langeliers is about as locked in as you can get at the plate. The Braves' No. 3 prospect per MLB Pipeline, and No. 54 overall, launched a pair of home runs as part of a four-hit effort to help lead Double-A Mississippi to an 8-2 victory over Biloxi on Tuesday night.
Langeliers smashed a two-run homer in the third inning off Biloxi right-hander Jesús Castillo and then belted a solo shot off righty Zack Brown in the sixth. He added a single in the second and an RBI single in the seventh.
It was the 23-year-old catcher's fourth multi-homer game of the season and pushed his long ball total to 19 for the year. He's hit two in a game three times in 2021 and launched three against Pensacola on June 2. Langeliers, who was selected ninth overall by Atlanta in 2019, upped his season average to .270 and his OPS to .886 with the 4-for-4 performance.
Drafted as a defense-first catcher with a tremendous throwing arm, his bat is quickly catching up. With more nights like he had Tuesday, Langeliers could become quite the all-around backstop by the time he debuts in the Majors.
