Giants rep Golden Gate, fog on new unis
The San Francisco Giants have unveiled their City Connect uniforms, becoming the sixth club to reveal a custom jersey as part of the 2021 Nike MLB City Connect Series.
San Francisco will wear the alternate uniforms on-field Friday-Sunday when it takes on the Washington Nationals, in addition to every Tuesday home game for the remainder of this season.
“This jersey represents what we’ve always known about San Francisco,” the club said on social media announcing its new look. “That there’s more to us than meets the eye.”
The jersey puts focus on the Giants’ orange color and features a white background in addition to light grey trim on the front and back. San Francisco's gradient “G” logo pays homage to the city’s iconic Golden Gate Bridge, and the historical landmark makes appearances across the jersey’s sleeves as well as the side of the uniform’s orange cap.
“The vibrant colors of the jersey echo the city’s energetic drive to work hard and stand out,” the team added. “On the chest a bold “G” rises from the fog, symbolizing our pride and unmatched passion for baseball... This collection embodies everything beyond that thick marine layer – the hidden treasure that is San Francisco.”
Seven clubs will participate in the collaboration with Nike. Uniforms for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Miami Marlins and now San Francisco Giants have debuted, with the Los Angeles Dodgers set to unveil theirs in August.
