Ryan Howard and Jimmy Rollins teaming up again for new podcast
Debut episode featuring CC Sabathia drops Tuesday
Unfiltered and authentic.
Those are the best ways to describe the new 6-1-1 Podcast, hosted by former Phillies teammates, National League MVPs and 2008 World Series champions Ryan Howard and Jimmy Rollins.
The podcast -- named for Howard's No. 6 and Rollins' No. 11 uniform numbers -- goes beyond the diamond and explores the world of baseball, culture, and storytelling, opening the door for current players and other guests to share stories and have in-depth conversation about various topics including the difference between today’s game and the past.
Hear never-before-told anecdotes from inside the clubhouse and travel days, infused with discussions on important topics and culturally relevant moments rooted in authenticity and veteran wisdom. Howard and Rollins' unrivaled friendship creates the perfect platform that allows guests to tell their stories with genuine emotion, colorful commentary, and a little bit of humor.
"That's the beauty of the show," Rollins said in the podcast's trailer. "You put a mic in front of somebody and they just open up and tell you things that you've never known about them."
The podcast debuts Tuesday, and new episodes will drop every two weeks. The guest for the first episode is CC Sabathia, a six-time All-Star and AL Cy Young Award winner who, like Rollins, grew up in California's Bay Area. Sabathia won the 2009 World Series with the Yankees, who defeated the Phillies led by Howard and Rollins in six games.
"It was crazy how loud it was in there for those games, man," Sabathia said of his experience at Citizens Bank Park during the '09 Fall Classic. "It was insane. ... I remember that being the loudest place that I pitched in."
Episode 2 will feature a conversation with Chase Utley. He, Rollins and Howard all came up together in the Phillies' system and played next to one another on the infield for 11 seasons, highlighted by a World Series title in '08.
The 6-1-1 Podcast will be available on MLB.com, MLB.TV, all podcast platforms and YouTube.
