Royce Lewis OK after scary collision at first base
MINNEAPOLIS -- Royce Lewis said he expects to be sore, but was otherwise in good spirits following a scary collision at first base during the Twins' 2-1 loss to the Guardians on Sunday, when he collided with and flipped over Cleveland first baseman Gabriel Arias and landed on his face, with his neck bent backwards as his legs went up and over his body.
Lewis had a cut across his forehead, but manager Rocco Baldelli said tests revealed no concussion and no acute issues. The Twins will continue to keep an eye on Lewis ahead of their next game against the Rays on Tuesday.
"You know, the loss hurts more, to be honest," Lewis said. "I didn’t help the team very much today. I’m just going to work my butt off to do so going forward. ... I just remember hitting my face and my head. My shoulder hurts. I felt like I ran into a car backwards."
