Royals ink Asche, Broadway on Minors deals
KANSAS CITY -- The Royals have signed two veterans to Minor League deals, including third baseman/outfielder Cody Asche, who made the White Sox Opening Day roster last season.
The Royals also signed 30-year-old right-hander Mike Broadway, an original fourth-round pick of the Braves in 2005 who made some mechanical changes in the Tampa Bay system last year, according to scouts, and increased his velocity from the low 90s to 95-98.
Broadway pitched in 25 games for the Giants from 2015-16 and posted a 6.75 ERA. He could be in the mix for a bullpen spot for the Royals.

Asche, 27, came up through the Phillies' system and played parts of four seasons with them. He hit 12 homers with 22 doubles in 2015. Last season with the White Sox, he hit .105 through 19 games before being sent out.
