Royals select contract of outfielder Paulo Orlando
The Kansas City Royals announced today that they have selected the contract of outfielder Paulo Orlando, adding him to the 40-man Major League roster.
Orlando, who turned 29 on Saturday, spent the entire 2014 season with Omaha (AAA), batting .301 with 21 doubles, 9 triples, 6 homers, 63 RBI and 34 stolen bases for the Triple-A National Champions. His 9 triples ranked second in the Pacific Coast League, while his 34 steals were fourth. He was selected to the Pacific Coast League All-Star Game this season, after batting .313 with a .432 slugging percentage and 25 steals before the break. Orlando was originally acquired by the Royals from the White Sox in 2008 after signing as a non-drafted free agent out of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
