ARLINGTON -- Second baseman Rougned Odor's eight-game suspension has been reduced by one game to seven, and Odor will begin serving the suspension on Friday night, when the Rangers open a three-game series with the Pirates at Globe Life Park.
"He's a big part of our team," manager Jeff Banister said. "We're going to miss him."

The Rangers called up infielder Jurickson Profar, at least while Odor is suspended. Profar, who has missed the last two seasons because of a torn muscle in his right shoulder, has been playing second base recently at Triple-A Round Rock.
Odor was suspended for his role in an altercation with Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista in a game on May 15 in Arlington. Odor reacted to Bautista's hard slide into second base first by pushing him, then by landing a hard right punch to Bautista's face. Odor was ejected from the game, and Bautista was called out on the play when his slide was ruled to be illegal.
Fourteen people were disciplined for their role in the affair. Shortstop Elvis Andrus was the only other Ranger to be suspended. He received a one-game suspension and has already served it.
On Friday, the Rangers also placed right-handed reliever Shawn Tolleson on the Family Medical Emergency List. Tolleson can spend 3-7 days away from the team, under the conditions of the move.
