Sept. 7: OF (left hand) exits Saturday night’s game early
Doyle departed in the fifth inning of Saturday night’s 5-2 loss to the Brewers after experiencing pain in his left hand after making a diving catch on the warning track in the second. Doyle stayed in the game and struck out looking in the top of third.

He made a running catch of a fly ball to end the fourth, but came out of the lineup when the Rockies took the field an inning later, replaced by Sam Hilliard.

“I landed pretty rough on the warning track, and something kind of flared up along the tendon in my pinkie and the side of my hand,” said Doyle, who had his left hand heavily wrapped after the game. Doyle said he’s receiving treatment, but that no imaging tests were planned for now.

Sept. 6: LHP (blister) will start on Sunday
Freeland began feeling a blister in his left middle finger in the third inning of Tuesday’s loss to the Braves. He stuck it out and pitched through the fifth, but was removed after that. Manager Bud Black said Freeland “is fine” and will make his regularly scheduled start on Sunday against the Brewers in Milwaukee.

10-DAY/15-DAY INJURED LIST

OF (back strain)
Expected return: TBD
Bryant, limited to 159 games thus far in his first three seasons of a seven-year, $182 million contract, is doing back exercises in hopes he can return to baseball activities and, eventually, to the field this year.

It was believed that if Bryant wasn’t close to returning when the roster expanded in September, he would be placed on the 60-day IL and a Minor League player would be promoted. That didn’t happen and Bryant didn’t join the team to Milwaukee, likely meaning that it's trending toward unlikely that he will return before the season ends.

“He’s doing better. He’s feeling good,” manager Bud Black said. “You know in the NFL, you’ve got 'probable', 'questionable' and 'doubtful.' I’m going to say it’s questionable, but we’re running out of time.” (Last updated: Sept. 7)

RHP (right biceps inflammation)
Expected return:
Early September
Vodnik, placed on the injured list on Aug. 21 (retroactive to Aug. 19), threw a bullpen on Sept. 3 and then reported to Double-A Hartford. He pitched one inning and recorded two strikeouts on Sept. 6 for the Yard Goats as he began his rehab assignment. (Last updated: Sept. 7)

RHP Cal Quantrill (right triceps inflammation)
Expected return: Sept. 14
Quantrill underwent an MRI on Aug. 31 and then had a cortisone shot.

"Cal looks good," manager Bud Black said on Sept. 6. "Cal will jump back into the rotation pretty quickly after his 15 days are up."

Heading into next season, Quantrill -- who will be in his final year of salary arbitration -- figures to be a key part of the Rockies’ rotation. (Last updated: Sept. 6)

LHP Lucas Gilbreath (left shoulder inflammation)
Expected return: TBD
Gilbreath, who completed a long recovery from Tommy John surgery only to go back to the IL on Aug. 26 with left shoulder inflammation, acknowledged frustration.

“I can’t seem to figure out what’s going on,” Gilbreath said. “Every time I think I’m over the hump, it seems to take three steps back.”

Gilbreath’s process: Go through step-by-step treatments and approaches with the Rockies’ medical director, Dr. Thomas J. Noonan, who, according to Gilbreath “likes to check boxes … hopefully this helps.” Gilbreath said he has found himself dropping his arm slot to the point that “there’s no way to drive the ball the way that I pitch.”

Gilbreath wants to return by season’s end, but given the issues, that might not happen. (Last updated: Aug. 27)

60-DAY INJURED LIST

RHP Antonio Senzatela (Tommy John surgery)
Expected return: Possibly late this season
Senzatela had his best rehab start to date on Sept. 3, throwing four scoreless innings with three strikeouts and no walks for Double-A Hartford. This was the righty's fourth rehab start as he makes his way back from Tommy John surgery. Senzatela is scheduled to make another rehab start on Sept. 8 and could return right after, manager Bud Black said.

“Hopefully he can get five innings and 75 pitches and then we can probably make a decision on him,” he said. (Last updated: Sept. 6)

RHP (right elbow inflammation)
Expected return: 2025
Hudson worked on improving his strike zone performance during a trip to Triple-A Albuquerque. But in his return to the Majors on Aug. 10, he walked four in 4 2/3 innings and was put on the 15-day IL the next day. On Sept. 5, he was transferred to the 60-day IL, ending his season. (Last updated: Sept. 5)

RHP (right forearm surgery)
Expected return: 2025
Bard, 39, is planning another comeback. He earned NL Comeback of the Year Award in 2020 -- his first year back after control problems kept him out of the Majors for seven years. This year, Bard sustained a torn meniscus in his left knee while playing catch prior to Spring Training. He tried to ramp up for the season but sustained the forearm injury -- an issue that had bothered him in 2023 -- and underwent surgery on May 1.

Bard felt positive enough after a visit on Aug. 27 with Dr. Keith Meister, who performed the surgery, that he is willing to take on the comeback attempt. He will be a free agent at the end of this season. (Last updated: Aug. 28)

RHP (right elbow stress reaction)
Expected return: 2025
Márquez returned from Tommy John surgery and made one start before being placed on the IL again on July 22 (retroactive to July 19). On Aug. 8, he was shut down for the rest of the season with a stress reaction in the olecranon area of his right elbow. Márquez was transferred to the 60-day IL on Aug. 23. (Last updated: Aug. 23)
