Phillies manager Rob Thomson's contract has been extended through the 2026 season, president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski announced on Tuesday morning. Philadelphia's entire coaching staff will also return for next season.

Thomson led the Phillies to the National League East title in 2024, the franchise’s first division crown since 2011. However, their season ended in disappointment when they fell to the Mets in four games in the NL Division Series.

Previously Philadelphia’s bench coach under manager Joe Girardi, Thomson began his tenure as Phillies manager in 2022, taking over the job on an interim basis after Girardi was dismissed in June. The switch gave Thomson his first chance to manage at the big league level after a decades-long career in the game filling a variety of roles, both on the field and in the front office.

The Phillies made a remarkable turnaround under Thomson, ending their 10-season playoff drought with a Wild Card berth and reaching the World Series before losing to the Astros. Philadelphia removed the interim tag from Thomson’s title during the team’s playoff run and signed him to a two-year extension.

The Phillies reached the playoffs again as a Wild Card team in 2023 and made it to the NL Championship Series for the second straight year, but they lost to the D-backs in seven games. Philadelphia extended Thomson’s contract through the 2025 season in December 2023.
