Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant brings its famous margaritas to Coors Field with opening of 'Rio on the Rocks' for the 2014 baseball season
(DENVER) - March 10, 2014 - Q) What could be better than enjoying a summer evening watching a Rockies game at the beautiful Coors Field? A) Doing it while sipping on a famous Rio Marg…and yes there is still a limit of three!
The Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant, one of Colorado's most iconic homegrown restaurant groups, is bringing its famous Rio Margs to Coors Field for the 2014 baseball season. Rio on the Rocks will start serving baseball fans on Opening Day and will offer a selection of margaritas, cocktails and several Rio favorites like chips, guacamole, queso and house-made salsa. The Rio has been a Colorado institution for decades, and this partnership marries two of the state's most authentic brands in one high profile location. Now Rockies fans have something new to cheer about this season, helping to elevate their game-day experience.
"Coors Field is one of the top baseball destinations in the country - both in attendance and fanfare, so it seemed only fitting to incorporate some local Colorado flavor into our guest experience," said Dick Monfort, Owner/Chairman and CEO of the Colorado Rockies. "The Rio experience is something every Coloradoan knows and enjoys and we're thrilled that those memories will now include baseball."
Rio on the Rocks is destined to become a hotspot before and during every Rockies game. Located on the Mezzanine Level in Right centerfield, the space is comprised of 3,964 square feet of prime Rockies viewing, capacity for 222 guests, and several premium seats available for regular ticket purchase. Fans will get to choose from the traditional Rio Marg, either frozen or on the Rocks, as well as the popular Strawberry and Mango Margaritas-each as strong and delicious as those available at any Rio location. There will also be a limited food menu available including house-made salsa, queso, guacamole and the Rio's famous chips.
"Both the Rio Grande and the Rockies organization offer people an escape from the everyday while fully embracing our Colorado culture," said Rio Founder Pat McGaughran. "Rio on the Rocks is a natural partnership, and we're excited to become part of a homegrown tradition."
Many stadiums around the country have incorporated local restaurant concepts into their venues with great success, and Coors Field believes this is the future of the industry. Rio on the Rocks is the first Rio of its kind at Coors Field and is likely to strike a cord with Rio loyalists, Rockies fans and visitors enjoying a game for the first time. Aramark and the Rio established a partnership to ensure that the servers and management worked in tandem to deliver Rio quality food and margaritas to each and every guest.
"As for the Margs - they are the same, exact recipe as those we serve in our restaurants. The Rio and the Rockies guarantee it," added McGaughran.
This partnership comes complete with numerous promotions for game-goers and Rio patrons alike. And this season, whenever the Rockies hit a grand slam, fans attending the game get one of the famous Rio Margs for half-price when they bring their ticket into any one of the six Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant locations - we call it the "Rio Grande Slam™". Similarly, the Rockies Rewards, given away at games throughout the season, offer half-price Classic Rio Margs: Frozen, Rocks, Strawberry or Mango on certain game days.
The Rio Grande is a 27 year-old Colorado institution with locations along the Front Range, including Fort Collins, Boulder, Denver, Greeley, Park Meadows and Steamboat Springs, and its next location opening this Fall in Frisco - each having an experience all of its own. Known for its legendary Rio margarita that has a limit of three, scratch Mexican food, and an unrivaled patio scene, the Rio is one of the area's most loved establishments.
