Source: Lowe rejoins Mariners on Minors deal
Reliever pitched for Seattle in 2006-10, '15
PEORIA, Ariz. -- Veteran reliever Mark Lowe, who pitched well for the Mariners in 2015 before being traded to Toronto and later signing with the Tigers, is re-signing with Seattle on a Minor League deal, according to a source.
The Mariners have not confirmed the signing, which would be contingent on Lowe passing a physical before anything becomes official.
Lowe was released earlier this week by Detroit after posting a 7.11 ERA in 54 appearances last season in the first year of a two-year, $11 million deal.
The 33-year-old put up a 1.00 ERA in 34 outings for Seattle in 2015 and then was dealt to the Blue Jays at the Trade Deadline. He had a 3.79 ERA in 23 outings for the Blue Jays.
Lowe put up a 5.19 ERA with 11 hits and seven runs (five earned) allowed this spring in 8 2/3 innings over nine outings before being released by the Tigers.
Lowe, who lives in Vancouver, Wash., has a career ERA of 4.22 in 382 outings. He spent the first five seasons of his Major League career with the Mariners from 2006-10 before playing for the Rangers, Angels and Indians prior to re-signing with Seattle in 2015 on a Minor League deal and then making the club.
