Dodgers trade James Paxton to Boston

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers traded left-handed pitcher James Paxton to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for minor league infielder Moises Bolivar.

Bolivar, 17, is hitting .270 with three homers and 19 RBI with the Dominican Summer League Red Sox. The Palo Negro, Venezuelan native signed with the Red Sox on January 15, 2024 as an international free agent.

Paxton, 35, was designated for assignment on Monday. He went 8-2 with a 4.43 ERA in 18 starts with the Dodgers this season. The 11-year veteran has pitched for Seattle (2013-18, 2021), New York (2019-20), Boston (2023) and Los Angeles (2024) and he is 72-40 with a 3.76 ERA in 174 career starts. He has 996 career strikeouts in 940 innings. He was signed by the Dodgers on January 29.
