GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Reds rotation candidate Jon Moscot waited a long time to get into a game and face hitters from another team. Getting the Cactus League opener vs. the Indians on Tuesday, Moscot was not disappointed.
Moscot gave up one run and two hits over two innings with no walks and one strikeout in the Reds' 6-5 win. It was his first game since June 15 vs. the Tigers, when he separated his left non-throwing shoulder as he dove trying to make a tag.

"It was exciting to get out there for sure. I'm happy to be back on the field with the team," Moscot said.
Moscot's lone mistake came in the second inning, when Carlos Santana slugged a 1-1 changeup to right field for a no-doubt leadoff home run.

"I've got to get the arm speed back. I hung it a little bit," Moscot said. "I felt good. The ball was coming out of my hand good, with good life. I made one mistake to Santana -- but ultimately, for the first time throwing in nine months, I thought attacking the zone was pretty good today."

• Before the game, there was a moment of silence held for Bernie Stowe, the Reds' former longtime clubhouse manager who died on Feb. 9 at the age of 80. Reds president of baseball operations Walt Jocketty said the club planned to wear a memorial patch on its uniforms in the regular season.

• Price has been impressed with several of the young pitchers in camp. One who stood out during sessions vs. hitters was Rookie Davis, who came from the Yankees in the Aroldis Chapman trade and is ranked by MLBPipeline.com as the Reds' No. 12 prospect.
"We knew he was a good pitcher when we got him, but to see him against live hitters, fastball and curveball are crisp," Price said. "His changeup really improved."

• Also doing well is right-handed reliever Dayan Diaz, who was signed to a Minor League deal in the offseason. Diaz is a nine-year Minor League veteran, most recently with the Red Sox. He posted a 1.73 ERA in 37 appearances combined at Double-A and Triple-A last season.
"He threw the ball really well [Monday]," Price said. "I'm very impressed with him. HIs numbers last year in Double-A and Triple-A are off the charts. That's a really good Minor League performer that deserves a good chance here in camp."
