Reds stick with current rotation plan
Moscot, Lamb and Simon to start against Rockies
DENVER -- After mulling over having Jon Moscot's return from the disabled list Tuesday spurring additional changes to the rotation, the Reds have decided to stick with the current plan. After Moscot starts against the Rockies, John Lamb will still pitch Wednesday and Alfredo Simon is slated for Thursday.
Daniel Wright, who was taken out of the rotation after one start, remains available in the bullpen.
"However, I imagine at some point we could see him back in the rotation. I think that's reasonable to think," Reds manager Bryan Price said Monday. "Right now he's with us, he hasn't done anything to pitch his way off. I think to get Moscot on tomorrow, we have to make a decision there, which we'll announce tomorrow. [Wright] was pitching well in Triple-A and he came up here to fill a spot. If we feel a need to make a change in our rotation, which is possible, Dan would fit rather nicely right back in the rotation."
Lamb and Simon have struggled this season and Price had been hinting in recent days that the rotation could be adjusted.
Moscot, who has been out since his last start April 27 vs. the Mets because of inflammation in his surgically repaired non-throwing shoulder, made three rehab assignment starts at Triple-A Louisville. Following a shelling two outings ago where he gave up nine runs and four home runs, he worked six scoreless innings Thursday while throwing 81 pitches.
"The last time, I started getting into a rhythm. I started feeling my pitches," Moscot said in the Coors Field visitors' clubhouse. "I did a lot better than the week before. I look forward to taking it into the game tomorrow."
