Reds-Cardinals' Wednesday game postponed

June 6th, 2019

ST. LOUIS -- Storms moved into the area around scheduled first pitch on Wednesday and never left, forcing the eventual postponement of the Cardinals’ game against the Reds.

The game has been rescheduled as part of a split doubleheader at Busch Stadium on Aug. 31. The makeup game will be played at 12:15 p.m. CT, followed by the regularly-scheduled 6:15 p.m. contest.

Fans who held tickets to Wednesday’s game can use them for the first game of that August doubleheader.

Cards right-hander Dakota Hudson, who was supposed to start on Wednesday, will now face Anthony DeSclafani of the Reds in Thursday’s series finale. First pitch is scheduled for 12:15 p.m.

The tweak in the rotation also means that the Cardinals no longer need to find a starter for Sunday’s game against the Cubs. Miles Mikolas, Jack Flaherty and Adam Wainwright will now draw starts during that series in Chicago.

Wednesday’s rainout was the second in as many homestands for the Cardinals. Between those two postponements, the club sat through seven hours and 26 minutes worth of rain delays.
