Red Sox-Yankees finale delayed by rain in 6th
April 12th, 2018
BOSTON -- Rick Porcello no-hit the Yankees through the first five innings on Thursday night at Fenway Park, but his momentum was stopped by a rain delay that started before the top of the sixth.
The Red Sox had a 6-0 lead in the finale of this three-game series against the Yankees when the tarp came on to the field.
Porcello carved up the Yankees through those first five innings, throwing 60 pitches, 42 of them for strikes.
The only thing separating him from perfection is when he hit Giancarlo Stanton with two outs in the fourth.
The Red Sox scored four runs in the second and two in the third and delivered Sonny Gray an early knockout. The righty was removed after Mitch Moreland led off the fourth with a single.
