Red Sox prospects throw no-hitter for Portland
A trio of Red Sox pitching prospects combined to toss a no-hitter for Double-A Portland on Thursday.
Kyle Hart, Daniel McGrath and Adam Lau held the Binghamton Rumble Ponies to just two walks in a 2-0 victory at NYSEG Stadium in Binghamton.
It's the fourth no-hitter in Portland Sea Dogs history and the second thrown in Binghamton.
Hart started and pitched 6 2/3 innings, issuing one free pass and striking out six batters. McGrath pitched 1 1/3 perfect frames in relief, striking out two, and Lau picked up his first save of the year, walking one and striking out one in a scoreless frame.
Luke Tendler drove in the Sea Dogs' first run with a line-drive single in the seventh inning, and Portland's second run came in the ninth on a sacrifice fly.
