ST. PETERSBURG -- Right-hander Shawn Tolleson had Tommy John surgery on Wednesday and will be out for at least the next 12 months. Tolleson, who signed a one-year, $1 million deal with the Rays in the offseason, opened the season on the 60-day disabled list.
"Obviously, I hope everything goes well for him," Rays manager Kevin Cash said. "It's going to be lengthy rehab situation for him. To my knowledge he will rehab in Dallas."
Tolleson made his MLB debut in 2012 with the Los Angeles Dodgers and played three seasons with the Texas Rangers before signing with the Rays.
He is 14-8 with 46 saves and a 3.92 ERA in 215 big league appearances.
