Rays-Red Sox postponed, will be played June 8
BOSTON – Friday night’s opener of a three-game series between the Red Sox and Rays at Fenway Park has been postponed due to a forecast that includes thunderstorms with moderate to heavy rain and strong winds during the evening and into the overnight hours.
The game will be made up on Saturday, June 8 at 6:10 p.m. ET as the second game of a day-night doubleheader following the regularly scheduled game at 1:05 p.m.
The Red Sox called up righty Josh Smith to start on Friday night. But with the game getting called, Boston will stay on course and have lefty David Price start on Saturday and Chris Sale take the mound in Sunday afternoon’s finale.
Charlie Morton, who was scheduled to start Friday for the Rays, will go on Saturday. Red-hot righty Tyler Glasnow will now start the finale against Sale.
Tickets for Friday’s game will be good for admission to the rescheduled contest at 6:10 p.m.
