Rangers Youth Academy & Foundation host baseball fantasy camp for kids in Surprise
Texas Rangers Youth Academy staff traveled to the Spring Training home of the Texas Rangers, Surprise, Ariz., earlier this week to assist in hosting the Foundation’s annual Spring Training charitable initiative.
Youth Academy senior director Juan Leonel Gárciga and manager of Academy baseball & softball programming Dash Johnson used their expertise, in conjunction with Baseball Fantasy Camp for Kids, to host an event for athletes with developmental and physical disabilities in the City of Surprise’s Buddy Baseball League.
Held at Dream Catcher Park, which neighbors Surprise Stadium, the event offered tailored stations where athletes could test their baseball skills alongside World Series Champion third baseman Josh Jung and pitcher Andrew Heaney, as well as several Rangers’ Minor League coaches.
