For the first time in years, the Rangers were buyers instead of sellers at the Trade Deadline. It resulted in the organization parting with quality, young talent in order to acquire the likes of Max Scherzer and Jordan Montgomery.

That doesn’t mean the Rangers' farm system is completely depleted. Evan Carter still headlines Texas’ system as a top-10 prospect in all of baseball, and two recently signed players in Wyatt Langford (Draft) and Sebastian Walcott (international signing) bring more than enough depth throughout the Minors.

In MLB Pipeline’s newly re-ranked prospect list, the Rangers showcase four Top 100 guys in a deep system.

Biggest jump/fall

Here are the players whose ranks changed the most from the preseason list:

Jump: Cameron Cauley, SS (Preseason: NR | Midseason: 13)
The Rangers' 2021 third-round Draft pick struggled in his first full season of professional ball with Single-A Down East in ‘22, hitting just .209 with a .595 OPS. He opened ‘23 at the same level, and the shortstop has seemed to adjust at the plate, earning a callup to High-A Hickory in mid-July. He has hit .270/.321/.459 in 20 games with the Crawdads.

Fall: Cole Winn, RHP (Preseason: 14 | Midseason: 28)
Winn has gone from first-round Draft pick in 2018 to Top 100 prospect in ‘20 to steadily falling in Texas’ Top 30. After being named the Rangers Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2021, when he posted a 2.41 ERA between Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock, he’s since struggled in the hitter friendly Pacific Coast League. He’s shown flashes of what once made him a top prospect, including being named the PCL Pitcher of the Week for July 17-23, but he’s struggled to a 6.64 ERA with the Express this year.

Impact callup

Owen White, RHP (No. 8)
White made the first two big league appearances of his career this summer but has spent most of the season in Double-A and Triple-A, compiling a 4.02 ERA, .218 opponent average and 61 strikeouts in 80 2/3 innings.

The Rangers upgraded their pitching at the Trade Deadline, but the 2018 second-rounder from Carson (N.C.) High School features four solid or better offerings and gives them another quality option.
