September 18th, 2020
ARLINGTON -- Rangers right-handed pitcher Ricky Vanasco will undergo Tommy John ligament reconstruction surgery on his right elbow on Monday and is expected to miss the 2021 season.
The procedure will be performed by Dr. Keith Meister in Arlington. Vanasco, who had been working out in alternate camp, is the No. 18 prospect in the Rangers' system, according to MLB Pipeline.
Vanasco was a 15th-round pick out of Willston (Fla.) High in the 2017 MLB Draft who developed into a top prospect last season, when he was 3-1 with a 1.81 ERA in 11 starts between Class A Spokane and Hickory.
