Sources: Minors players to be paid through June
ARLINGTON -- The Rangers have made the decision to continue to pay their Minor League players $400 per week through the end of June, according to Major League sources.
The payments will be made to players who were not on the Major League Spring Training roster. Those players are being dealt with separately.
The Rangers are analyzing their financial situation on a month-to-month basis and will review their Minor League situation at the end of June.
While the Major League season could potentially get started in July, there is no indication that any of the Minor Leagues will begin play during the COVID-19 crisis. General manager Jon Daniels is hoping there will be some way to get those players back together in some fashion before the summer is over, even if it is only an extended or expanded version of Instructional League in Arizona.
