CLEVELAND -- The series opener between the Rangers and Guardians was postponed on Monday night due to a stormy forecast. The game will be made up as part of a traditional doubleheader on Tuesday, beginning at 3:10 p.m. ET/2:10 CT.

Only fans with tickets to Tuesday’s originally scheduled matchup can be in attendance for the twin bill. Those with tickets to Monday’s contest can exchange them for tickets to one of 13 games, including Tuesday’s doubleheader. Anyone exchanging their tickets for a later game option must do so by Friday, July 15 at 5 p.m. ET.

The Guardians will push back righty Cal Quantrill from Monday to the matinee of Tuesday’s doubleheader. The team has not determined who will get the ball in the nightcap (Konnor Pilkington was scheduled to start Tuesday). The Rangers will start Jon Gray in Game 1 of the twin bill and lefty Taylor Hearn for Game 2.

The Guardians are no strangers to doubleheaders this season. Tuesday will mark Cleveland’s fourth doubleheader of the year, with five still left on the docket. Entering Monday, the Guardians were just one game back in the loss column behind the first-place Twins, but they were 4 1/2 games back in the division since Cleveland has played seven fewer games than Minnesota -- and that’s before Monday’s rainout.

“Yeah,” Guardians manager Terry Francona said, when asked if you start to worry about how many more games other teams have played. “I’m just being honest. I don’t know if I’ve ever been in a situation where we’re down one in the loss column, but you’re back five or six games. That’s significant.”
