White Sox make three roster moves

CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox announced the following three roster moves:

  • Signed as a Free Agent (1): INF Nick Senzel;
  • Optioned to Class AAA Charlotte (1): INF Lenyn Sosa;
  • Designated for Assignment (1): INF Danny Mendick.

Senzel, 29, was designated for assignment by Washington on July 6 and released on July 11. He batted .209 (43-206) with 10 doubles, seven home runs, 18 RBI and 25 runs scored in 64 games with the Nationals this season.

Senzel has played in six major-league seasons with Cincinnati (2019-23) and Washington (2024), hitting .235/.302/.368 (337-1,436) with 63 doubles, four triples, 40 homers, 143 RBI and 200 runs scored in 441 games. He has appeared in 267 career games in center field, 109 at third base, 23 in left, 18 in right and 16 at second.

Sosa, 24, is slashing .237/.274/.350 (42-177) with eight doubles, four home runs, 15 RBI, 13 runs scored and three stolen bases in 52 games over two stints with the White Sox this season.

Mendick, 30, is hitting .197 (26-132) with seven doubles, three home runs, eight RBI and 13 runs scored over 47 games with the Sox this season.

With the moves, the White Sox 40-man roster decreases to 39. The Sox will make a corresponding move prior to Friday’s game at Kansas City.
